πΊπΈπ±πΈπ°ππ±π¦ The African state of Lesotho is the nation receiving the highest tariff rates by the United States (50%), followed by Cambodia with 49% and Laos with 48%.
The country has a GDP of only $2 billion and relies on its large trade surplus with Washington, mostly comprised of diamonds and textiles, including Levi's jeans. Its exports to the United States totalled $237 million in 2024 and account for more than 10% of its GDP. Economist Thabo Qhesi warned the rates could kill local textile and apparel industries.
