All: I'm excited to announce that the DAODAO hard fork will trigger on Wednesday May 18 at 2pm Pacific Time (block 130901)
* github.com/deso-protocol/core/blob/fed65db0245c9c257a167a671a49c2a9c271df70/lib/constants.go#L651
This upgrade contains *a lot* of breakthrough changes, including:
* On-chain non-custodial market and limit order functionality. That's right-- a full on-chain order-book exchange is launching on DeSo to support novel applications like DAODAO, which will be the first to make use of it.
* Hypersync is now the default syncing mechanism, and takes syncing time down to 20m from ~8h previously. It will also scale amazingly as DeSo grows, and support full sharding as part of our roadmap for "billion-user" capacity.
* Granular on-chain permissions for derived keys now allow apps to prompt users for individual transaction types. For example, you can grant an app permission to post but not to spend any coins in your wallet. This paves the way for novel use-cases on DeSo like subscription billing, paying in a DAO coin or creator coin, "offline" transaction processing on behalf of users, yield farming applications, lending applications, and cross-chain bridges as well.
DAODAO and Megaswap will be the first apps to make use of all of the above features, providing the community with rich examples showing how to build safe crypto-enabled social apps and smart services. The first of their kind!
